Golder Associates engaged Liberty Industrial to demolish and remediate the Toshiba Australia warehousing and office facilities in Parramatta NSW, including a car park and landscaped areas. The detailed scope of works included demolition and removal of all aboveground and belowground infrastructure, shallow building foundations and redundant services, excavation and recycling of concrete and asphalt pavements and remediation of asbestos-contaminated soil including stockpile management.
Robust solutions
- Remediation of asbestos contaminated soil which involved the excavation, stockpiling management and disposal of 600t of asbestos containing soils.
- Our team mobilised one of our 120t High Reach Hitachi excavators with a rotating shear attachment that enabled us to collapse the 8m high precast concrete panel structures less than a week from commencement.
- Three machines with specialised demolition attachments including grab, pulveriser and shear were deployed to process the demolished material for recycling.
Exceptional outcomes
Over 95% of demolition waste was recycled. More than 8,000t of materials were recycled into quality concrete products including 30mm minus, 20mm aggregate and 40/70 aggregate for sale. Liberty brokered the sale of these products and stockpiled 1000t of residual material onsite for beneficial reuse on the building construction works. This option provided our client with a better commercial outcome than direct offsite disposal.
