Liberty Industrial has been shortlisted for the Contract Over US$1 Million Award at the 2026 World Demolition Awards for our Groote Eylandt Wharf Demolition project in Australia.
Following significant damage caused by Tropical Cyclone Megan, Liberty Industrial was engaged by McConnell Dowell / South32 to deliver the specialist demolition, removal, remediation and environmental recovery of the damaged wharf infrastructure.
Delivered in one of Australia’s most remote locations, the project required an innovative, engineering-led marine demolition solution, including a fully remote subsea methodology using modified excavators, specialised subsea attachments, ROVs, sonar and drone technology.
The project achieved 98% material recycling, zero major safety incidents and zero environmental incidents, demonstrating the technical expertise, collaboration and innovation of the project team.
