Given our strength as an industrial demolition specialist, Liberty Industrial was sole-sourced for the deconstruction of a 110-metre failed stack standing within an operating Acid Plant at the Olympic Dam mining facility in South Australia.
Robust solutions
- Installed a 105-metre-high scaffolding surrounding the stack.
- After stabilising the stack, each section was marked with access holes for the 200t crane to pass through and lift the stack.
- Each section of the carefully marked stack was hand cut using oxy-gas in approximately 8-metre lengths. They were removed by five specialist riggers/cutters and placed in a strategic stabilisation location.
- Large pipes and ductwork were removed after the demolition of the stack. This ensured the area was safe for new infrastructure to be installed.
- All material were removed and disposed of onsite.
Exceptional outcomes
Liberty Industrial put in place a three-week pre-execution plan to ensure project success and achieved completion ahead of time without any incident.
