Air Liquide commissioned Liberty Industrial to execute the demolition and remediation of their Carba Road CO2 production facility near Mount Gambier, South Australia. The project included the demotion of the CO2 process infrastructure, including two large CO2 pressure storage vessels. Other large below-ground concrete storage tanks and sewer systems had to be demolished and removed from the site with backfilling of voids completed to the geotechnical requirement for compaction using imported VENM soil material. Soil remediation included the excavation and removal of asbestos impacted soils; excavation, treatment and removal of hydrocarbon impacted soils; and decommissioning of both the CO2 and groundwater extraction wells.
Robust solutions
Our team liaised with local environmental consultants to complete the pre-demolition hazardous material investigation and soil investigation, classification and validation work as the remediation works progressed.
After successfully developing a sound deconstruction methodology, we were able to mobilise a qualified crew with a fleet of state-of-the-art equipment.
Exceptional outcomes
The project was masterfully executed as planned to the client’s complete satisfaction, on budget, on schedule and without injury or incident.
