Liberty Industrial completes processing for 7th ship load out at the Rio Tinto Gove Refinery Closure Project

Liberty Industrial completes processing for 7th ship load out at the Rio Tinto Gove Refinery Closure Project. In July 2025, Liberty Industrial completed the 7th Scrap loadout operations, working around the clock over 6 and a half days, averaging 9 trucks carrying 122t per hour to transport 2009t non-ferrous and 12515t ferrous for recycling.

This successful execution demonstrates the sheer amount of planning and coordination required between Liberty Industrial and our chosen subcontractors.

“It’s a testament to the energy, enthusiasm and tireless work that goes into preparation and execution that sets our teams apart. Everyone on our team has a hand in supporting the work leading up to and during these mammoth scrap load outs. We are very proud of what our dedicated people have done and continue to achieve.” Joseph Clarke, Project Director, Gove Demolition and Disposal Project.

Further shipments remain to transport further tonnes of recycled materials The first shipment took place in October 2023, with approximately 15,000 tonnes of scrap steel to be converted into new steel wire, bar and beam products. Around 300,000 tonnes of concrete will also be recycled for l other projects. Liberty Industrial have also invested in a state-of-the-art Concrete Crusher to assist with the concrete recycling program.

In 2024, Liberty Industrial designed, constructed and commissioned two bespoke water treatment plants on site, capable of treating waste waters and recovering valuable resources for other uses, such as dust suppressant and irrigation of rehabilitated areas.

“At Liberty Industrial, we are committed to exemplary environmental performance and stewardship. This project demonstrates the ability of our company to work closely with our client, team and partners to deliver maximum recycling rates, in short and efficient operations.” said Allan Bramble, CEO and Managing Director, Liberty Industrial.

In 2025, Liberty Industrial launched its first Sustainability Strategy and FY23 report data. This ties in with their priority to Scale Adoption of Circular Practices which focuses on increasing the rates of recycled materials in demolition and remediation project. “This project and the volumes we are seeing, demonstrates the commitment outlined in our recently launched Sustainability Strategy, by using the best practices, technology, and using best international learnings to continue to deliver even higher recycling rates than ever before.” Allan concluded.
