We are delighted to share Liberty Industrial has now commenced demolition and remediation earthworks at the Port Kembla Gas Terminal (PKGT) located near Wollongong, New South Wales.
Liberty Industrial will be instrumental in the demolition and removal of Berth 101 including full extraction of over 500 piles and bulk excavation of 100,000 cubic metres of fill including material segregation, material tracking, stockpiling, testing and relocation to the outer harbour for re-use in a future ports reclamation project. The project also includes the demolition and crushing of approximately 40,000-tonnes of concrete and 50,000-tonnes of heavily bound slag cement materials for sustainable re-use in future construction works.
To add to the sustainability performance of the project, our project team inclusive of General Manager, David Wood alongside Project Director, Dave Wall and Principal Environmental Engineer, John Stevanoni have been working to design, procure and commission a technically advanced water treatment plant capable of flow rates up to 20 litres per second to produce water quality capable of being reused onsite or directly discharged to the environment.
With Liberty Industrial’s portion of works expected to be completed over the next six months, it is full steam ahead for our team. We are looking forward to sharing our progress over the coming months.
